We’re fast approaching five great years of working with Google, since December 2009 when we projected a giant animated advent calendar onto Westfield in London for the UK launch of Chrome. Every project has been an honour and a pleasure, and so we were delighted when they handed us the task of designing and building a stand for YouTube at the recent Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival.
A key aspect was the demonstration of Google’s Chromecast device, for use in the home. So we used this as an opportunity to make visitors feel ‘at home’ with YouTube, creating a relaxed environment with a mock house structure, living room and seating areas for delegates to host meetings or take the load off their feet.
The space also featured a kitchen area serving the most staple of British refreshments – tea and toast – throughout the duration of the event.
As you can see, the stand proved hugely popular throughout the Festival. And it’s not the only event we’re working on for YouTube – there’s more to come in October, so watch this space.
